Our story started with framing, not concrete
I framed houses for years before I switched to concrete. I got tired of building walls on slabs and footings somebody else had rushed, so I learned the concrete side working next to a finisher I trusted. In 2017 I started Muscatine Concrete here in Muscatine. Today we're best known for driveways, patios and foundations that stay flat and drain the way they should, and we pour for homeowners, small builders and property owners who want a straight answer and a crew that shows up.
What I care about most is the part you can't see once it's done. The dig, the base the slab sits on and the forms decide whether concrete holds up, and they're the first thing that gets skimped when a budget's tight. I'd rather tell you something you don't want to hear before we pour than have you find it out after.
What you get when our crew takes your job
We're licensed and insured, and we're backed by our satisfaction guarantee. Here's what that looks like on your driveway, patio or foundation, from the first visit to the day the forms come off.
The same person from estimate to pour
I'm the one who looks at your job, and I'm the one who runs it. Nothing you told me at the estimate gets lost on the way to the pour.
Most of our time goes under the slab
We dig out and pack the base instead of raking the dirt level, because a slab settles with whatever's under it. We also check where the water runs so your new slab sends it away from the house.
An estimate you can compare
Your estimate spells out what's included, like tearing out the old concrete and hauling it off. That way you're comparing real numbers from one contractor to the next, not guesses.
Straight talk about cracks
Concrete cracks some, and I'll tell you that up front. We cut control joints, grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, so any cracking usually follows those lines instead of wandering across the middle.
What to expect from your first call
There's no long sales process. You tell us what's going on, I come look at it, and if the price works for you, my crew and I do the work.
Call or send the form
Call (563) 261-8613 or use our contact form to tell us about the slab, the cracks or the sinking spot. We get back to you within one business day to set a time to look.
Walk the job with me
I come out myself and look at the ground, the drainage and what's there now. The quote is free and done on site, with no obligation, and I'll tell you what moves the price.
We handle permits and pour
We check with your city or village office before we set a date, and when your job needs a permit we pull it and set up the inspections. Then my crew and I dig, build the base and pour.
Service areas on both sides of the river
Muscatine Concrete is based in Muscatine, Iowa, and we work in the cities around it on both sides of the river. Davenport and Rock Island are two of the four cities with their own page on this site, and they're not the only places we go.
